Sewing elastic for the enjoyment of basic and easy to do once you get some package. And to achieve this end I want to tell you three most common types of flexible and when to use them.
The three most common are sewing elastic ... knitted and woven fabrics. And once you learn to recognize them will be a breeze to figure out what to choose for your project.
Elastic mesh - elastic mesh is difficult to identify at first. It is soft, thin and flexible.Picture this ... Imagine you are a piece of 1 inch wide by 6 inches long knitted elastic now, with a final cut in each hand. Looking closely you would see thin horizontal lines from left to right. If you are pulling on each end, would still be an inch wide. This type of elastic is good to use in light clothing. It can be applied to tissues without disturbing what is called for direct application. This means that the elastic tissue and can be sewn together at the same time.A flexible mesh is strong enough to sew through it does not affect its performance. Knit elastic works well in pens.
Stretch fabric - stretch fabric feel thicker and stronger than elastic knit pajamas with the exception of elastic, which is woven, but very soft. With a close inspection you can see both the horizontal and vertical lines that look like they are woven like a fine mesh. When stretched, elastic nonwoven fabric retains its original width, and becauseits power can be applied to heavier fabrics, such as home accessories, canvas trousers and weight. Stretch fabric can be applied either by direct application or by threading through a slot.
Braided Elastic - Let's talk about elastic braid. Once again, holding a picture of 1 inch per 6-inch piece. You could see well-defined horizontal lines from left to right. The most obvious difference with the elastic braid, and the easiest way to tell the other two, is that when you restrictelongated. A reduces to 1 inch wide pieces about half an inch when it is tight. And if you look closely when it is tense, you will see that the horizontal lines are transformed into rows of small V-shapes, such as those seen in braids. Although there are exceptions to every rule, for now just remember that elastic stocking is used only by threading through intestines, weakened by stitching through the strap.
Knowing these three types of elastic and how to recognizewhen to use them will make a big push for your next visit to the fabric store. Even if you do not need to buy elastic, a few minutes to see how you can identify just for fun, and pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
