Hats are very in-demand accessories that most people use them as a clothing statement to express their fashion. People can without-a-doubt use caps to accentuate their style. That is why as a retail store owner, you should understand how to market your caps and sell more hat merchandise. You can do this with the use of effective hat racks.

A retail custom cap display stand aids in giving focus the merchandise. A properly displayed row of hats not only creates desire on clients but it could persuade them to buy specially if all items are displayed well.

Ensuring a good number of inventory is not only limited to hats but to almost all merchandise. You can also commission a research company to distinguish at what height is the most effective one in mounting a cap display rack. While you are at it, you may as well as conduct a survey as to who gets your product and the style that they prefer over another. You will be able to check the best way to market your hat products. In this situation, since customers would likely be more enticed using presentation, it is best that you carry most or all variants that you have and present them properly on their correct hat fixture units.

The ways of marketing will only depend on the design and quality of your cap products and cap products. You can either pile them up to make a stand using a cap tower display stand or side by side on a hat shelf fixture rack. Like the various hat and cap designs and variants that occupy our market at the present, you have to adapt to changes to emphasize your merchandise better.

We can definitely conclude that we can easily make the most hats and increase the revenue in our shop so long as we are able to promote them properly according to our customers' demands. Use hat racks to effectively display your caps and expect sales to come in.

Should You Coach Your Own Kids In Sports?

If you have a child, you should ask yourself: Is it a good idea to coach my children's teams, or should I leave the task to someone else?

I've been a Little League manager, I've coached soccer and basketball, and I've written a book about my experiences: 101 THINGS PARENTS SHOULD KNOW BEFORE COACHING THEIR KIDS' SPORTS TEAMS. (Contemporary/Mc-Graw-Hill: 2000)

Whether you should follow in these footsteps depends on you, your kid, the sport, the parents, and the league.

You should consider six factors before you take the plunge, or are pushed into the water by other parents who want you to do it, saying they desperately need your help.

(1) Do you have the time?

In my book, I have a section called, "Welcome to your second full-time job!" If you work out the math of the commitment, it's nothing less than astonishing. Practices, games, strategic planning, coordinating with other parents, league meetings, and travel to and from the sports venues adds up to a huge weekly commitment. And the season can seem insufferably long, especially in baseball or softball. Then, there's the post-season!

(2) Do you have the right attitude to manage kids at play?

My softball team's name was the Wildcats, and they lived up to it! You may be familiar with the expression that the task was like herding cats. Exactly!

You have to be patient, and as some adults might see it, insufferably upbeat. This is where kids learn to have a positive mental attitude, and you are their leader. If you're a cynic, a pessimist, or simply going through a depressing patch in your life or career, please avoid this assignment.

(3) You can't hate soccer and coach it well.

I happen to like soccer, but I didn't grow up with it. I was a baseball, football, and basketball player, with a baseball emphasis. For me, soccer has been an acquired taste, and this is a plus. I don't have a zillion war stories that I'm dying to share about how great I was in the sport. What a relief to the kids! If you just don't "get" soccer, or you dislike it, admit it to yourself, and cheer politely from the stands.

(4) Will your kids be comfortable having Mom or Dad as the coach?

My daughter didn't like the fact that I was coach because I paid more attention to the others than to her. That's inevitable; there are a bunch of them and one of her. While I think she may have secretly liked the special status a coaching parent is given, it didn't compensate for losing me as a full-time, dedicated cheerleader.

(5) Parents can make kid sports ugly.

A parent of a girl on my team stormed the field and made threats to me as I was standing at third base, in the fifth inning of a game, coaching. It wasn't a happy episode. There were nasty phone calls from parents who believed their girls should have received more playing time, even if they missed a lot of games and practices.

A lot of these folks you wouldn't have work on a car, let alone a child's personality, but you have to accept what you're given. Draft a kid, and the parents come along, good or bad.

(6) League officials can be, and probably are, the village idiots.

There; I said it!

For some reason community sports attract some of the strangest administrators. Power, politics, and egos seem to drive many of them, and they can drive you nuts, as well, because you are answerable to them.

Well, I didn't tell you how wonderful it is coming to the first practice, walking onto a beautifully manicured field, or watching a child surprise everyone, including himself, by making a great, game winning play; something he'll celebrate for a lifetime.

That's a part of coaching, too.

So, balance everything, and make a decision that's best for you.

And one more thing: it takes a lot of work on your part to make it play, for kids!

What I Know and Remember About Baseball - Teaching

When teaching baseball or any other sport regardless of age, the players in ability to understand what the coach is trying to express is sole responsibility of the coach. Teaching involves respect, clarity, organization, motivation and context.

People learn by example, Coaches who are respectful of children are not just modeling a skill or behavior, they are meeting the emotional needs of those children, and create the conditions for children to respond whole heartedly.

Clarity, to effectively communicate using clear ideas, clear goals, clear questions and clear conclusions. This level of interaction is truly age dependent but as a coach you must identify and speak to each players level of clarity. Relate to the age and reference level of your players.

Coaches are not teachers replete with pedagogy that work for every player. Granted, in the High School ranks and beyond this changes, but the majority of players do so through the recreational leagues where Dads, Moms, Uncles, Aunts and Grandparents of all backgrounds volunteer for the joy and frustration of being the coach.

Be prepared for practice with written notes and time schedule. Organization is likely the most critical aspect of any type of teaching. With all that is involved with being the coach, pen can paper can be your greatest allies. Organization is also a quality you can expect from your players.

As the leader, when you present a well formed and organized practice, game or gathering, your players see the success that is gained from organization. It will never be obvious, and you will never have a player come up and thank you for being an organizational icon. But they will learn, and all advances in being personally responsible and organized will always be a benefit.

There are many situations in baseball that can only be taught in situational settings. For regularly successful practices routine is king. For a portion of every practice, set aside time for drills and skills that everyone can perform correctly. This repetitive success is the building block for situational success. Routine drills also bring the team together as a whole as every ones efforts are focused on the singular event.

Cooperative effort may also be a solution for conveying a concept or skill. There are times where having a senior player take a role in teaching a skill to the team. Not only will they be able to communicate on the correct level, but again we provide a superior opportunity to practice leadership and build self esteem.

Skill drills can do a lot for a player. It is an excellent opportunity for the coaches to examine the individual movements of each player and corrections as needed. The downside is that most drills do not involve the context of the game. Within the practice regime it is critical to combine multi skill activities into drills.

Once the skill is placed into the context of the game, players can readily identify the significance of the drill. If someone known to you walked up and told you to walk 2 blocks south then 1 block west, it is likely you would not walk at all. Now if this same person gave you the same instruction with the context, I found a bag of cash and you can keep it, it is highly likely that you would briskly walk the 3 blocks.

A great drill for all ages above t-ball is the practice steal. No batter, with a good lead off first the runner heads for second when the pitcher releases, catcher makes the throw to second where the tag is made.

This drill helps the pitcher get over the worries of a runner stealing, catcher gets a real action throw to second, the catch and tag are evident and your runner under the watchful eye of the coach makes the perfect slide.

Way off the beaten path is having the players perform a skit. Players read from the script as they act out the events on the diamond. Not only does an exercise like this really change things up, but it also provides the opportunity to practice a little public speaking, humm, homework, social skills and baseball at the same time, nice.

Fun, clarity, organization, motivation and context, these are the keys to effective teaching at any level. Be prepared to take it easy on yourself if the plan you created does not seem to work. Allow yourself the grace to make changes on the fly. Enlist the help of others to convey concepts that elude your ability.

Pink Diaper Bags

What's the perfect way to show off that you're having a little girl? By choosing a pink diaper bag of course! Even daddies don't mind carrying pink so much if they are doing for their newly born baby girl. It's the first example of how they will be wrapped around her finger in the future. Although this sounds intuitive, it was not an easy choice for me!

Growing up in a family of girls, I spent my childhood and teen years proving I was not a "girly-girl". I played baseball, drove a hot car, changed my own oil, and wore black whenever possible. Although my mother forever tried to get me to dress in pastels, I assured her I was much too cool to dress like Barbie.

When I found out I was pregnant with my first daughter, I assumed I would never use pink. I decorated her nursery in sage and lavender. I went out of my way to find interesting baby clothes in unusual colors and combinations that were different than everyone else. Then Emma was born. It seemed that every gift I received was pink, and I had no choice but to dress her in the pretty little outfits she had received.

To my surprise, I loved it! She looked adorable, and all of a sudden I couldn't get enough. I not only dressed her in pink, I began to wear the color as well and was surprised to find that it suited my complexion and my style in a way I had never suspected. My mom was right! I was pretty in pink.

I even started to search for a pink diaper bag. Not yet ready to carry around bunnies and kitties, I discovered some lines of handmade diaper bags that were sophisticated and chic. Hot pink stripes. Pink and brown patterns. Black with pink accents. These were attractive enough to carry as a purse! Excited, I purchased several and match them with my mood and activity.

My current favorite pink bag is the Clara Bag by JP Lizzy. This one has enough room for me to carry all of the items I need, but it's still small enough that I often carry it as a purse when I'm without my girls. Another is the Anne Bag, a handmade bag from my boutique, The Shopping Boutique. Although I haven't purchased it yet, I am very tempted by the sleepover sized Pink Sock Monkey bag by another seamstress.

I found that I love the femininity, the versatility and the creativity in these designer and handmade diaper bags. They incorporate artistry, sophistication and functionality into a "must-have" parenting tool. Although you will want to accessorize with these bags, they are practical, efficient and well-designed. I can't imagine taking a baby out without one of them!

I still love baseball. I still love to dress in black for a night out with my husband. The hot car, sadly, has been replaced by an SUV with car seats, and I haven't changed my own oil in several years. But I could. Now I know that pink is just another way to express who I am, and no one needs to stereotype me. Not even me.

Dominate Your Competition So They Beg For Mercy

Isn't it a great exercise to create an advantage or benefit to your customer that your competition doesn't? This does require some research on your part, because you are the only one that knows your industry.

All you have to do is to come up with a benefit or advantage, and check out your competition to see if they offer that to their customers. When you find that they don't, you'll probably get goose bumps, because you'll be so excited. You'll be excited because you can now go after your competitors' customers to make them your own, knowing that you have a distinct advantage over your competitors.

Here are some examples:
1) Domino's pizza delivered in 30 minutes or less, or the pizza was free.
When Domino's started there weren't any pizza companies that guaranteed delivery within 30 minutes, and fewer companies delivered pizza that was hot. And if the pizza was delivered late and cold, you lived with it. There wasn't any protection or risk reversal attached.

Domino's was the first and only company to do that. And guess what, that was so distinctive, that they virtually owned the market for years and years.

2) Federal Express: When it absolutely, positively, has to be there overnight. They offered customers a distinct advantage... that the package would be delivered overnight, by 10:30 AM, Guaranteed.

3) When Avis was struggling to come up with a marketing approach that would gain them the market advantage they desired, they needed a unique selling proposition that was very powerful. Hertz was heads above them in size and market share.

What did they do? They came up with a great USP..."We're number 2 and we try harder". They demonstrated that by extending themselves, by working harder, by giving you better rates, and by being cordial. They made incredible progress and growth because of this USP.You've got to ask yourself this important question. What superior benefit, advantage, or improved result is my business in a position to give a customer?

And here's another question... What superior benefit, advantage, or result am I already actually providing or supplying my customer that is so subtle that they aren't even aware of it...that I'm doing a disservice to them because they're not even aware of it?

Your goal is to identify and telegraph to every prospect, customer or client you ever deal with from this day forward, that they can expect to receive, on an ongoing basis, a unique benefit or advantage by doing business with your company instead of your competitors. Take this week and focus on what you're doing that your customer is not aware of, or what you can start doing for that customer, that provides them with a unique and superior benefit, advantage, or result over any other business they could chose to do business with.

Here's one more example... If you're in a service business like heating or air conditioning, you could have a USP where you can have a guarantee that if your customer has a problem, you will be at their home within 1 hour of the call or it's free.

Whatever your business is, you must...and I repeat...you must create a Unique Selling Proposition in order to not only stay in business, but to create new customers.

If you spend the time to determine what your Unique Selling Proposition is, you will not only enjoy your business, but you'll also leave your competition behind and create the profits that you're in business to create.

Basic Must Haves For Your Little Boy's Wardrobe

In today's world little boys and little girls have almost interchangeable wardrobes. The emphasis for both genders is on practical clothing that is easy to wear and easy to wash. Little boys and girls are probably not as different as they were once thought to be, but - depending on the child - the core items in a basic boy's wardrobe can usefully be chosen for extra durability.

Practical Style

Every little boy will have a few pairs of jeans. Jeans are the perfect clothes for kids and adults alike. For little boys who live up to the stereotype of getting into scrapes they are the ideal everyday wear. In today's fashions, a few rips and stains sustained during play (or mischief) aren't the end of the world and even add to their fashion status. For any kid who is prone to getting dirty, jeans are the perfect basic trousers because they tend to show the dirt less.

Boys wear baggy long shorts or cargo trousers with lots and lots of pockets for all those odds and ends that little boys traditionally carry with them. A pair of soft track suit pants is always handy for wearing round the house or for after playing sport.

Looking Smart

While most girls have a party dress as part of a basic wardrobe, boys have fewer options when it comes to dressing up. A suit for a little boy is a waste of money because he will grow out of it so quickly - consider hiring if you have a wedding or other formal occasion. Chinos, or any trousers that aren't jeans, and a dress shirt will cover almost any occasion where boys need to look smart.

Weather Wear

With global warming and holes in the ozone layer, sun protective clothing is advisable for boys and girls. Unisex long-sleeved swimsuits that block out UV rays are a basic item recommended for sunny climates. A baseball cap is not only fashionable and fun but will protect your son's skin.

For winter, warmth and protection from the elements are the key considerations. A waterproof parka with hood provides both and a separate raincoat will usually not be necessary. The shops are filled with fun headgear and other winter accessories. Spiderman or other superhero rubber boots will be a hit with most small boys.

Time for Bed

Pajamas signal to children that it's time for bed. As well as being basic items in a child's wardrobe, pajamas offer boys a chance to use clothes for dressing up and having a bit of fun. Bedtime may be happier if it means getting into Superman pajamas!

A basic wardrobe for boys needn't cost a fortune and if well-chosen can also fulfil the requirements of fashion and fun, as well as being functional.

Sideline Dad

You scored great seats for this game-right on the fifty. Now, it's nail-biting time. Your team's down by six, but they're on the fifteen, inside the red zone-it's third-and-five, with thirty seconds left. It's now or never, as your quarterback keeps the ball, slips around the end, dodges one tackler, bowls over another, lunges for the pylon-he's in! Your cheer lifts you out of your seat, you spill popcorn everywhere.

Then you see it-the yellow flag. Offensive holding-no touchdown. The clock runs out. But wait a minute-a fellow fan storms the field, going right for the ref. A scuffle takes place, then another fan goes for your team's coach-screaming something about boneheaded play-calling. It starts to get ugly, when Security rushes in to break things up. Thank goodness this field has Security. It has to-this is Pop Warner Football, after all. No telling, what these crazy fathers are capable of.

The "football" or "baseball" or "sideline" father is the male equivalent of the infamous stage-mother. He prowls the sidelines at his son's games, screaming advice at the coach, curses at the ref, and criticism at his own son.

Believe it or not, there are highly qualified and motivated would-be coaches who won't go near Pop Warner Football or Little League Baseball or the local soccer league, any more. At best, for coaches and referees, the presence of fathers on the sidelines can be distracting and annoying-at worst, it really can be dangerous. Angry fathers have assaulted and injured coaches, everywhere. The only losers, when good coaches can't be recruited, are the players-the kids-who will never benefit from the patience and expertise these men can bring to the game.

The old adage, "It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game", seems to have vanished from our collective consciousness, today. The pressure to win, at all costs, is pervasive in our culture. Today's most popular TV shows-the "reality" shows-joyfully encourage ruthless behavior in pursuit of victory.

Adults have the experience to make their own judgements about such behavior, but young children are still going through the development of their interpersonal relationship skills, and team sports can provide valuable lessons:

How to work together, toward a common goal;

How to accept and process the discipline required to succeed;

How to blend individual talents and abilities into a successful group effort;

How to learn from defeat, and work together to improve future performance.

Most of all, team sports for kids ought to be about having fun. It's difficult for a boy to have a good time on the field when his dad is screaming criticism from the sidelines, either at him or the coach.

All dads want the best for their kids. Even sideline dads are motivated by the desire to see their kids do well and enjoy the feeling that comes with winning. But no one wins every time, and that's a valuable lesson, too-that disappointment is survivable.

The best feeling kids can have, though, isn't necessarily reflected by the scoreboard at the end of the game. The best feeling is the pure fun kids have had for generations, just chasing a ball and each other, in the dirt and grass, not caring about the score-or who's declared victorious. Plenty of time for that, when they grow up.

You Can Find Additional Great Wrestling Schools Than You Might Imagine

When I ask the typical sporting activities fan to name some excellent wrestling schools, I invariably hear names like Iowa, Iowa State and Oklahoma State.

Whilst there's no doubt that these schools have a number of the strongest wrestling programs inside country, there are several other wonderful wrestling schools that most men and women would either by no means associate using the sport or have by no means heard of, period.

Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, for instance, is often a small college that has one of the top 10 wrestling programs inside region on a normal basis. As a sports activities writer, I've covered two express champion high college wrestlers that signed with Lehigh, one of whom was nationally-ranked and had Olympic aspirations.

Cal Poly is yet another example of one of those powerful wrestling schools that not numerous folks consider when they talk about the sport. They're normally between the top 25 schools inside the region, and have many wrestlers regarded for being between the very best in their respective weight classes.

An additional college that commonly has several individual wrestlers ranked amongst the elite Division I competitors inside the nation is Bucknell University.

Moving over to the Ivy League, Cornell is regarded as being a wrestling powerhouse, and also the remarkable issue about which is that the Ivy League is actually not regarded that competitive amongst Division I colleges and universities in most from the major sports activities using the notable exception of hockey. Harvard and Penn have also produced some excellent wrestlers.

Edinboro (and no, I am not talking about Scotland) is a different wrestling college in Pennsylvania that produces a few of the very best wrestling talent inside the nation.

When most of us consider athletic talent inside talk about of Michigan, we imagine on the University of Michigan or Michigan State, proper? Not this year; the most effective with the wrestling schools from the Wolverine talk about this year is Central Michigan.

I've typically wondered why you see schools that have a number of the stronger wrestling programs within the region that you rarely hear about in other sporting activities, and I consider the answer is truly pretty straightforward. Some schools merely don't have the resources to create powerful athletic programs in multiple sporting activities like the University of Texas, Florida, USC, LSU or Alabama, so they focus on one sport.

It is possible to see the same point in baseball with Pepperdine University or Wichita State, or in basketball with Duke University or Gonzaga.

You will discover numerous beneficial wrestling schools available that the regular sports activities fan has in no way heard of, or maybe had no idea that they were so powerful inside sport. The critical factor, nevertheless, is that fans on the sport of wrestling and wrestlers themselves know about them, and you far better believe that wrestlers would look at it an honor and a privilege for being a part of those programs.

Your Physical Body is a River of Spiritual Frequencies - From the Crystal River - Part 3

Visible life begins at the ionic level.

When you become aware that eventually every thing in life is changed from its physical or liquid form by your body into atomic ionic electrical frequencies, you will see that your body is spiritual. The law of naming in Genesis 2, is still true and in effect today; "What you call it, is what it is." At the atom ion level YOU ARE SPIRIT. In the heart of your DNA (what you think of yourself) is what you are. YOU ARE SPIRIT (Romans 8:9).

Webster defines an ion as "the electron charge in an atom." The complete atom includes at least one electron, one proton and one neutron to produce balanced life. Everything visible is composed of this invisible world of atoms. Up until about fifty years ago, the atom was believed to be the smallest element of energy -- until the atom was split (then we had a Big Bang) and mankind was introduced to a 'new' universe of orderly arranged energy. Educators were forced to adjust our sciences to the fact that the most powerful energy was actually in the smallest packages; in the sub-atomic quanta. Man discovered a new microscopic dimension and a new unexplored universe of study, and named it Quantum Science. Students of Spiritual Science were given a new view, in this new unknown dimension of the beginnings of life, as to how the Kingdom of Heaven within man's cellular body is ordered. We now can look into the natural quanta physiology to explore the spiritual, ordered Kingdom of Heaven.

An ion carries the electric charge in the negative electron part of the atom structure of life. The orderly orbit of the negative electron and the positive proton around the nucleus is similar to the orbits of the earth and planets around the sun, and the distance between is empty space. However, the empty space in an atom is not empty. What seems to be empty space is a vast library of information. Each human cell contains the necessary information and schematic to construct a most wonderful mansion for you to live in, plus it contains a detailed history of every member of your family tree.

It is written; "... a body has thou prepared me." The atoms which make up each cell are copies of the original and were divinely programmed by The Creator to operate in an orderly arranged manner. However; when we introduce our 'spiritual house' to man-made pharmaceuticals, man-made food with preservatives and colorings, water with harmful man-made additives and contaminated with fertilizers and pesticides... the man-made products act as a grounding power on the ions. When the ion loses its electric charge, it becomes a free radical with a desperate need to borrow or steal a charged ion from another atom. That parasitic nature develops an abnormal growth of cells, and can produce a cancerous tumor.

My Personal tsunami! A few days ago I was driving alone, when I ran into a storm. It was a "b'rain storm." While driving, I had been walking up and down in the back roads of my mind, comparing scriptures and contemplating the difference between creating and forming. I was trying to understand why Yehvah (God) "created darkness and formed light," and again why Isaiah also reported that Yehvah "created evil and formed good." Why did He create the negative first (darkness, evil) and how did He then, as a second act, form the positive (light, good)? Why is it written: The Elohiym created one Adam, and Yehvah Elohiym formed the earthy Adam? (Genesis 1 and Genesis 2.) Why were the two activities different? Why? Then I remembered the Biblical introduction.

That's when LIGHTNING STRUCK! "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light" (Gen 1:1-3). Oh my God! I saw, in my spirit, something that I had never seen. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made by Him" (John 1:1). "And the Word was made flesh" (John 1:13). The Word of God was the eternal Christ, the son of man. When The Creators Elohiym said; "Let there be light," the spoken Voice was the Christ. He was then and forever will be the Spoken Word of the Creator. Oh, my friends, do you see this? This is how Yehvah Elohiym forms! HE forms with words. In our Christ Oneness, WE BECOME HIS WORD.

Our words give form to our life. Elohiym "formed man [Adam] of the dust of the ground" (Genesis 2:7). He spoke Adam's form into existence. Some years ago I had memorized the Hebrew word "dust", Aphar. And I remembered that Strong defined the word aphar as; "dust, clay and gray." And the root word means "gray." IT HIT ME like a bolt of lightning. It knocked me off my "animal" and I shouted, "Of course!" HE formed Adam of GRAY MATTER. He formed Adam with the potential to THINK; to THINK GOD'S THOUGHTS. Man's role in God's Plan was to give form, by speaking, to the "without form conditions on the planet." We were made in God's Image to function in His Likeness, or after His own order of creating form; whether we have been aware of it or not, OUR WORDS GIVE FORM TO OUR LIFE.

The Mind of Christ can think God's thoughts. THINK OF IT! The Mind of Christ is Spiritual and compatible with the Spirit of God; while the sensual, carnal mind is out of sync and totally incompatible with the Creative Spirit. Well, as I was in the spirit during the "b'rain storm," I just sat there on the side of the road and wept tears of gratitude for the privilege to receive such an overwhelming word from our Father. What glory it is to be the man part of The CREATOR.

To connect this to our thoughts on "frequencies", let me share with you a couple of significant words in the Genesis story of the Creation. The Hebrew word translated "created" is the word "Bara," (#1254; Beth Resh Alef) and means; "to cut down a wood." Let me offer: In the day of the writing of the Genesis account of creation, "cutting down" was associated with trees or wood. Truth is progressive. In the first century after Christ, men thought the Earth was flat and that every thing in the universe circles around the Earth. Do you recognize the effects of that kind of thinking? Inherited genetically, from his ancestors; MAN IS STILL PRONE TO THINK that everything revolves around himself. In our time on God's stage of uncovering; we who are exposed to radio, television, x-ray, microwave, cell phones, cat scans, etc. are aware that "to cut down" relates to reducing the frequency; turning down the volume or a thermostat. Will you allow yourself to 'see' that when Our Father(s) created the earth and man and all that is therein; He reduced the invisible quotient down to a slower visible frequency: Do you see that what we call life blood could actually be "light"? The invisible God and His visible Son expression are characterized as light.

That thought introduces another very significant spiritual law programmed into the mind of the FORMED Adam. Genesis 2:19 records what I call the "Law of Perception." The LORD God (Yehvah Elohiym) brought before Adam every beast of the field and every fowl of the air, to see what Adam would "call them." In short; what ever he called them or it, that is what it is. This is possibly one of the most important facts of Spirit life that I can share with you. Our spiritual maturity is limited by this fact: What you call everything or anything, that is what it is. If you insist that you have a carnal mind, guess what? You will have a carnal mind; even though Jesus Christ in the finished work of the cross, abolished the carnal mind and the carnal man.

The carnal man is the man of sin that sets himself up in the Temple (the naos, Temple not made with hands) God's Holy Ground (The Holy Land) and declares carnality to be more powerful than GOD (2nd Thes. 2:4). No, no that temple could never be a man-made physical temple in Israel. Paul spoke of a Naos (temple): the same word he used when he wrote; "Know ye not that ye [your body] is the temple [the naos] of God?" (1st Cor. 3:16)

Our bodies were designed to function perfectly in the frequency of Christ. Obviously, for those of us who believe that Jesus was the ultimate human being (and defined as the truth about man; whose life was the expression of the Spirit Mind); conclude that our bodies were designed to function perfectly in the frequency of Christ. In the Son, we also see that a person who has experienced the cross and death to the old carnal man, who has remembered that he was born of the Spirit, is responsible to "put off the old man, and be renewed in the Spirit of our mind." Put him away, my friend, for he no longer exists. Erase him, don't think about him and definitely do not talk about him. Don't continue to think about things that no longer exist.

The Mind of Christ within you; "the single salvation template" has a River of Life flowing out; "makes the lame to walk and the blind to see, opens prison cells." The water flowing out from the inner most being is a Crystal River and it carries Our Heavenly Father's DNA/RNA, which are clustered Crystals of Spirit 'Light' frequencies. Hope is knowing what you can expect Our Father to do. Jesus knew Himself as the Water of Life, which eliminates thirst; and as the Light of the World. Christ knew Himself as ONE with the Father. He knew that it was the Father within Who did the miraculous works. No one can "come" to that union with The Father without the same mind; the Christ Mind.

TRUTH NEVER CHANGES; BUT, our understanding of Truth and the appreciation and application of Truth does change. Personal educational development, language changes, cultural changes and spiritual maturity all play a role in our ability to 'see' and assimilate Truth into our life. His Divine Purpose is to manifest the Divine Order of His Kingdom on this earth, in the visible dimension; first to develop His Life within us and then to express Himself as us. Father's Life is already within. Jesus said so. We not only give His Life first place; we make His Life the only game in town.

Carnal memories interfere and block the flow of spirit life. A river was known as a channel of flowing water (when the Bible was written first in Hebrew, then Greek, and even up until the time of the invention of the radio). But, today we recognize other forms of rivers. In this article we are focusing on The Crystal River of Spiritual Frequencies of "single mind Christ Energy"; which flows continually through every artery, nerve and capillary in our bodies to deliver spirit life to every cell, as spirit energy. However, there are opposing frequencies created by a dual mind, when carnal memories interfere and block the flow of spirit life.

"I write unto you fathers because you know and were known from the beginning." I write unto you "fathers" because you are an "intimate" Christ minded person (1 John 2:14, 1 Cor. 13:12, John 17:23).

Baseball Drills and Beyond to Attain a Scholarship

College is very important regarding a young person's future. Fortunately, there are many options to employ to get there such as financial aid and private loans. In addition, many athletes receive monetary aid in attending college due to athletic scholarships. A young man looking to improve his future can leverage superior baseball skills to acquire a college scholarship. The following article features several suggestions to help a young person work towards attaining a baseball scholarship.

Do baseball drills on your own

Becoming a college athlete does take superior skills, yet such skills can be developed with dedication and focus. Often, more practice is what separates those who do well in sports and those who excel. Is practice canceled for the day? No practice scheduled for the weekend? Do you have some spare time on vacation? Scholarships await those who are dedicated towards their sport. Do baseball drills on your own to make yourself a better player tomorrow than you are today.

Do well in school

Young people receiving athletic scholarships rarely do so based solely upon athletic merit. Universities granting funds look for candidates who are exceptional in many areas including scholastic pursuits. Often, athletes can use discipline learned in sports to successfully address school obligations. In addition, good coaches make it a point to express the importance of school work and progress to their student athletes.

Attend summer baseball camps

Little league and high school baseball seasons usually take place between the months of March and June. Luckily, summer baseball camps are available so athletes can continue to engage in baseball drills and enjoy the benefits of youth baseball instruction. Student athletes can mention their attendance on their college 'resumes.' In addition, college recruiters are often savvy about the existence of such camps and rove for future potential.

Take private baseball lessons

An aspiring college athlete can really benefit from one-on-one instruction. Private baseball lessons are often available through local facilities or leagues. Instructors can focus on one or multiple areas of a young player's game in order to facilitate improvement and progress. Private lessons are a great supplement to baseball training programs offered at a player's school.

Round Rock, Texas

Round Rock, Texas was founded around the year 1851 on the banks of a local creek called Brushy Creek, and the city was named for a large, circular rock which was situated in the middle of the creek. Wagon Wheel tracks can still be seen on the rock today, and the rock was in the middle of a low water crossing on Brushy Creek, which at the time was part of the famous Chisholm Trail which was used to herd cattle from Texas to Kansas. The town was originally called Brushy Creek, but changed its name in 1854 to Round Rock in honor of the rock and the stories surrounding it. Round rock was the reputed birthplace of Sam Bass, an infamous train robber of the day, as well as Soapy Smith, an old west con man who made Round Rock his home in the mid-1800s.

The city, which has a current population of around 75,000 inhabitants, has a rich and colorful history. The area northwest of downtown on Sam Bass Road is still referred to as "Old Town", a reference to the shootout between Sam Bass and the Texas Rangers in 1878, an event which is re-enacted every year in downtown Round Rock during the yearly Frontier Days festival which is held on the fourth of July.

Round Rock is also known as the Sports Capital of Texas, and is home of the Round Rock Express, a minor league baseball team that plays in the Dell Diamond, which is a local sports arena and concert venue built by the Dell Corporation, which has its corporate headquarters in Round Rock and is one of Round Rock's most well known employers.

Round Rock is about 17 miles north of Austin and 10 miles south of Georgetown, and has around 21,000 households, and an area of just over 26.3 square miles, a small percentage of which is water. Round Rock is considered to be a very safe community, and has been named one of the best communities for young people by The Alliance for Youth, which attributes this fact to a program called New Horizons, which encourages students to remain in school and development the life skills necessary for success.

Along with the Dell Corporation, there are numerous large employers in the Round Rock area, including Toppan, Sears, and TECO/Westinghouse. The median household income in Round Rock is around $70,000, and Round Rock has a very diverse population, with roughly 47% of the population having children in the household under the age of 18 and 65% of the households including married couples. The median price for a house in Round Rock in 2006 was about $150,000, and round Rock offers various choices of accommodations from luxury homes to smaller starter homes, as well as apartments, duplexes, and condominium projects.

The Round Rock School District Schools are also considered excellent, and over 85% of graduating seniors take the Scholastic Aptitude Test, and the city has an excellent library that offers children's programs and a summer reading program for kids too. There are many recreational facilities including the Clay Madsen Recreation Center, which includes a 14,000 square foot skate park, summer camps and day camps for school students on break. The center also offers swimming lessons, a game room, and two basketball courts, as well as a T.V. room for children to safely recreate all year round.

Round Rock also has quite a few well known hotels, restaurants, and opportunities for nightlife, along with excellent medical facilities, including Round Rock Hospital and the new Dell Children's Hospital, which is associated with the Seton Hospital system.

Round Rock is an excellent place to visit and catch a ball game, or enjoy the natural beauty and scenery, and learn about Texas history. The city is also an excellent place to consider when choosing a location to raise a family and settle down, or retire in a safe community with close proximity to big cities yet all the advantages of small town living. Come on over to Round Rock and take a look at its many advantages, and you might just want to stay a while!

Great Theme Ideas For Decorating Your Christmas Tree

If you are thinking of new Christmas tree decorating ideas for this season, now is the time to get started. Whether this is your first tree, or you just feel it is time to update your seasonal decorations, you can really express yourself with a theme-decorated tree.

A simple approach to Christmas theme decorating ideas is to use a color theme. This would allow you to use some of your favorite older ornaments along with new ones that reiterate your theme. For example, you could choose red and white. This would let you use Santa ornaments, candy canes, any of your older ornaments in either color, ribbons, garland and such. Another color approach would be a monochromatic theme, so if you chose green, for example, you could use every shade from the palest spring green to the darkest forest green and everything in between.

Traditional Christmas tree decorating ideas would include options like Santa Claus, angels or snowflakes. With all the beautiful ornaments available out there now, you could easily cover your tree in any of these themes. Santa could be accompanied by sleighs, reindeer and tiny wrapped gifts. Angels could be highlighted with lacy garlands of ribbon, gauzy bows and even feathers. Snowflakes can be sparkling or made painstakingly from paper. They can be highlighted with icicles and tinsel, if you wish for a festive, snow-filled look. You can take the snow theme further and add snowmen, skis, skates and other winter-related activities, too.

If you like a more homey look, you may want to consider food-related Christmas tree decorating ideas. Did you ever make Christmas cookies when you were a kid to hang on the tree? They look just as nice on the tree now as they did back then! You can also find wonderful garlands and ornaments that look like candies, bundles of nuts, cookie cutters and other food-related items.

If your home has a more rustic feel, country Christmas theme decorating ideas may be more your cup of tea. Tying bows of raffia, using wooden ornaments and garlands of wooden beads may be just the look you want.

Then again, with the ornaments available now, you can also choose Christmas theme decorating ideas based on hobbies, sports and other special interests. There are ornaments available that make beautiful trees based on fishing, baseball, soccer, tea parties, movie characters and so on. Your tree can express all of your favorite things, making it uniquely you.

Another alternative to consider for Christmas tree decorating ideas may be using only old-fashioned, antique ornaments. The old glass ornaments our grandparents had create a beautiful, nostalgic look. Victorian ornaments that look like they popped right off a holiday card also look lovely on an old-fashioned tree.

Maybe Christmas is a time to remember at your house. Unique Christmas tree decorating ideas like making a memory tree may be very appealing. Find some small frames you like in different colors (or you can paint them yourself) to put in photos of your children, your parents, grandparents, friends and so on. Add some bows or cherished ornaments that hold special memories to complete the look.

Like Father, Like - Daughter?

Baseball hard-hitter Harmon Killebrew tells a story that hints at the importance of fathers to boys: "My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard," he says on his Web site. "Mother would come out and say, 'You're tearing up the grass.' 'We're not raising grass,' Dad would reply. 'We're raising boys.'"

Obviously, Killebrew's father was tuned in to the needs of his sons, an admirable quality that seems only natural in a man. We accept that every boy needs a father as easily as we accept the notion that he needs a dog. But while society is beginning to acknowledge that a father is more crucial than a dog to a boy's well-being, the question of how important fathers are to the well-being of their daughters has all but been ignored.

This gap has been addressed by only a few researchers, one of whom is Linda Nielsen, professor of adolescent psychology and women's studies at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Nielsen has been teaching a "Fathers and Daughters" course there since 1991 and authored its current textbook, Embracing Your Father: How to Create the Relationship You Always Wanted With Your Dad (McGraw Hill, 2004).

"Do you realize how rare incest is between a biological father and daughter?" she asked rhetorically in a recent interview with Vision. "It is extremely rare. When we talk about girls who are victims of incest, that term, to psychologists and sociologists, covers being sexually abused by cousins, uncles, stepfathers, stepbrothers, brothers, half-brothers, men who live with your mother who are not related-that all goes into the category of incest victims. But when you look into the percentage of girls who were sexually abused by their biological fathers, it is very small. What this tells me, just as it told you-is that researchers have the wrong focus when it comes to studying father-daughter relationships."

This wrong focus may contribute to the misconception that daughters don't need their fathers after a certain age. "My students tell me that their fathers stopped doing things with them when they became teenagers-like going camping with them alone on the weekends-because it would look weird," says Nielsen. "Once puberty hits, you aren't supposed to spend as much time with your daughter. Once she's a teenager, you're supposed to back off and let Mom have the main relationship. If that's the message you're sent and you're told that's what a 'good father' does, then that's what you're going to do."

According to Nielsen, most men would like to be involved, and she adds, "Fathers do spend more time with their kids than in the past." But she says some changes still need to occur. Although company work-life balance programs for men and women are becoming increasingly popular in Western nations, "men still spend an average of 15 more hours a week at work and commuting than their employed wives do, and American fathers spend about 70 more hours each year at work than do men in other industrialized countries. Dads still don't have as much time as moms to be with kids."

Clearly, as a society we remain unconvinced of how crucial fathers are to their children-particularly to their daughters. But would we be convinced if we read the research?

Vanderbilt University researchers have long known that girls who have supportive, involved fathers enter puberty later than girls whose fathers are distant or absent, and this is not as insignificant to a woman's quality of life as it may seem. In 2003 researchers at the Cincinnati, Ohio, Children's Hospital noted a link between early onset of menstruation and adult obesity. But there's more. When early onset of menstruation was marked by early breast development, there was an associated rise in the risk for breast cancer. The accompanying factors may be complex, but there is certainly more to be explored in the association between good father-daughter relationships and a healthy future for adult females.

Mothers may also contribute to the problem through what some researchers call "gatekeeping" behaviors. A 2005 study by the National Council on Family Relations explains that maternal gatekeeping may take a number of forms, any one of which "either encourages or discourages fathers from acting on their paternal identity. . . . One path to changing fathers' behavior may involve changing the way that mothers look at them. If mothers believe that fathers can and should be capable parents, they are more likely to allow fathers into the lives of their children."

So then, does all of the responsibility for good father-daughter relationships fall on daughters? Of course not. Especially while they have young children, fathers carry the bulk of the responsibility for spending as much quality time as realistically possible with their children, whether girls or boys. But as they mature, sons and daughters can contribute to the effort too. Eventually there comes a time when the best way to turn the heart of a father to his daughter is for his daughter to turn her heart to her father.

Are They Skipping Your Profile?

Let's begin with your Profile as 'home plate'. If you ever want to get to first base with any dream partner you better have a killer Title and a magnetic Profile. Each person has unique features of his/her personality and their profile should reflect these. A home run is developed over time, but it all begins here with the Profile.

There are some pretty tired words being used in profiles. Yeah, we all like to "eat dinners out", and take "long walks on a beach" or "in the park". Let's try to be different. And even if some people really DO think you're gorgeous or handsome, it's in poor taste to mention it and comes off like bragging. So that's a skip; they'll move on to the next profile. One I read even claimed he has never had a cavity! (What's his point?).

I'm trying to say that there isn't much originality in any of these lines. Most are overused. One-upmanship takes a fresh approach. But not all of us are writers - we know that. There isn't a writer alive that hasn't stared at a white sheet of paper, or in this case a white screen, at one time or another. But like everything else, there is help if you look for it.

As I read a series of profiles, I really wonder if they are addressing a target-date. When you have a particular dream date in mind, your profile must be geared to attracting him/her. If you are not interested in partnering with single moms, you must design your words to imply that. If your preference is a tallish guy with all his hair, you have to find a way to hint at this without being blatantly obvious or hurtful.

If you have faults that friends find annoying, it's best to be upfront with them rather than go through weeks of correspondence only to be rejected and find yourself back to first base.

Let's understand the written word; aside from the dangers of being misread or misinterpreted, words on paper are totally one dimensional. Unlike meeting someone at a party or a cocktail lounge, your words have no tone, no body language, and no facial expression. In creative writing courses, one of the most important lessons is to write hypnotic sentences. Poets learn quickly how to "move a reader" making someone laugh, cry, or reminisce about a past experience. They do all this with mere words.

As online dating moves from profile, to first response, to contact by phone, to eventually meeting - each level now has one added element; voice, body language, facial expression and tone. Now you have plenty of cues as to your next move -- or not. But this advantage takes time to acquire. In the meantime, you must depend on words to express your feelings and create an image in the mind of your reader.

Lastly; photos. It's a given that if you don't include one, your profile is dead in the water. It's sorta like the First Amendment - it makes everyone think you're guilty even if you're not. The most common fear is that you're married and don't want a spouse, family or neighbors to see your picture on a dating site. Another skip!

Realize this: not everyone in online dating is movie-star material. But if you post a photo with sun-glasses and a baseball cap, or as some gals do - with hair hanging over ½ of the face, people will get suspicious. Black&White photos went out of style about 40 years ago, so if yours is not in color - we wonder if you dug out your high school yearbook picture. These are big-time skips.

Because millions join online dating every month, it should be fun. We choose a complementary photo, write a personal profile and join our choice of dating programs. Surely among all of our responses is the one we're looking for. If this doesn't happen, often the mistake we make is submitting the same photo and profile into a new dating program with the same results.

It's time to rethink everything.

Interview with Roy Lantz, columnist of "Never Beat the Boss at Horseshoes..."

Irene: Roy, you recently authored an interesting book called "Never Beat the Boss at Horseshoes" - a book that is supposed to help us recognize that life is a game. Tell us a little more insight into your concept.

Roy: Remember how, as a child, you were constantly reminded to "Play by the rules" when you were involved in a game? It's interesting that The Oxford American Writer's Thesaurus lists over five dozen synonyms for "rule", all of which can apply in one way or another to the daily activities of life. And what about the granddaddy of rules, "The Golden Rule", that, unfortunately, not enough of us are willing to embrace?
Whether it be directive, order, act, law, decree, statute, canon, commandment, edict, ordinance or injunction, there are plenty of "rules" that, at least nominally, are designed to provide guidance and a degree of order to our lives.

All of the games we play, from the most chaotic "extreme sports", to the more civilized games like chess, to the more "proper" sports of, say, polo and cricket, are governed, at least in theory, by rules. But do you remember the first time you declared, "Rules are meant to be broken?" And though all games have their dominant players, nobody wins all the time. Games, by definition, will produce winners and losers, and the participants themselves determine which they will be.

In life there are a multitude of rules, some of which we may choose to follow, some of which we may not. There is chaos and there is order. There are winners and there are losers. There is choice. In other words, life is a game, and it's a whole lot more fun when you're doing what it takes to win.

Irene: Okay, so I'm a rebel at heart. I don't like "rules" so yes, I do remember declaring "rules are meant to be broken" and I still declare the same. (laugh) What words of wisdom to you have for me and all the others that feel the same?

Roy: There is a stop light at the end of our street where it intersects with a four lane road, and directly opposite our light is another on the other side of the road. There is probably a half-mile visibility in each direction on the four lane. I am Amazed (with a capital A) when I approach that light at 4:30 or 5:00 on the morning - which happens frequently as I head toward the airport - how often I will see a car sitting there, waiting for the light to turn green before making a left hand turn, when there is not another vehicle anywhere in sight. Making that left turn on red is against the traffic "rules" - sitting there under those circumstances is to me, against the "rules" of logic!

The waiting-for-the-light-to-turn person I just cited also is violating what I would call the "rule" of common sense. I'm not saying he or she doesn't have any common sense. In fact, they probably have quite a bit, since they've obviously chosen not to use much of it! So, Irene, for you and all your fellow rebels, I say, "Go for it!!"

Irene: What inspired you to write this book?

Roy: In 1996 my first book, The Care and Keeping of Customers, was published. It contains over 80 specific things that an organization of any size or type can do to improve its relationship with its customers, both internal and external. It was based upon the over twenty years of hands-on, real life customer service experiences I had up until then. I had a message to share that might help other organizations and I wanted to share it.
Ten years later I realized that I had over five decades of real-life, hands-on experience in life, and that I had a message to share that might help other people and I wanted to share it. Many years ago I committed to paper a statement of purpose for my being on the planet..."to use my optimism and enthusiasm to teach and inspire others, so that the world of all those whose lives I touch, directly and indirectly, will be a better one". Never Beat the Boss at Horseshoes...102 Ways to Pitch Ringer after Ringer in the Game of Life is a way to help me fulfill that purpose.

Irene: Your statement of purpose is very dynamic. Tell us about the importance of having a statement of purpose.

Roy: I remember the question and answer section of the "Baltimore Catechism" that for years and years was used in parochial schools. It asked the question "What is your purpose in life?" And I vividly remember the answer - "To know, love, and serve God." That answer saw me through the formative years, though as I grew older I realized that it wasn't enough. It remains for me a vitally important component of why I'm here, but it's no longer nearly specific enough. Indeed, my feeling is that "To know love, and serve God" would be a noble ambition for all six billion of us sharing this wonderful planet. But I also feel that we all have a specific purpose that is not universally shared. Others may have a similar purpose, but our individual reason for being here is for us to discover.

Irene: In what ways could we bring our attention to really finding our purpose in life when sometimes we are scattered or feel defeated?

Roy: Discovering (or perhaps uncovering - it is there - we need only to find it) our purpose is one of the most meaningful activities in which we can engage. It makes setting goals so much easier - we need only ask if a proposed goal is congruent with our purpose. If so, it's probably a good goal.

In The Power of Purpose, author Richard J. Leider makes this important observation, "Our purpose starts with the acceptance of the basic truth that who we are and what we do does make a difference." Once that truth is accepted, you can begin to identifying your purpose. Start by listing your unique personal qualities. Are you......tolerant, patient, courageous, kind, assertive, persuasive, committed, responsible, responsive, caring, creative, trusting, empathetic, intelligent, decisive, humorous, self-reliant, knowledgeable, kind, persistent, dynamic, wise, organized, honest, resourceful?

This is not the time to be humble - list all your unique positive personal qualities. We call these the "I AM" words.

Now list how you could express those unique positive personal qualities. We call these the "I CAN" words. Can you...

...initiate, teach, help, show, support, develop, advise, plan, produce, lead, inspire, solve, persuade, create, establish, implement, organize, influence, motivate, care, identify, communicate, guide, promote, articulate, foster, visualize, manage, direct, encourage?

Now take one or two or three "I AM" words and combine them with "I CAN" words to begin to develop your statement of purpose. I've already shared mine, and here is a couple more to use as examples:

"My purpose in life is to demonstrate through example and teaching the way a responsible person should live and to influence all those I work with to emulate that example."

"My purpose in life is to use my life's experiences and beliefs to help my kids and their kids to become contributing, happy, positive people."

Irene: You relate life to a game of horseshoes. Why horseshoes and not baseball or football?

Roy: Great question, Irene. Horseshoes chose itself as my metaphor for the game of life! I started my business, Roy Lantz Seminars, in 1986 and in 1996 we signed an agreement to do international contract speaking for a Norwegian company with an Atlanta office. In June of that year we had a company picnic at the wonderful Stone Mountain Park, just outside Atlanta. Everyone was having a great time, but occasionally I'd see a co-worker slink sullenly, or angrily, or confused (but never smiling) from the area of the horseshoe pits. Finally, I stopped one of them and asked him what was going on down there. It seems that the boss, a tall, strapping Norwegian, was badly beating all who dared take him on in a game of horseshoes. And, even more infuriating, his attitude in victory was apparently not as gracious as it might have been.

Now, I'm not the world's greatest horseshoe player, but I'd been playing in my back yard for twenty years, so I had a pretty good game. Hating to see my friends depressed, and, as a former Marine, ever-cognizant of National Pride, I decided to take the boss on. And take him on I did! Much to the delight of my co-workers, I handily beat the boss at horseshoes. This was on a Saturday.

The following Friday he fired me! Now I don't know that my unfortunate fall from grace was caused by the horseshoe incident (though he was pretty upset...), but I do know that I had the perfect metaphor and title for my book!

Irene: It sounds like getting fired was the best thing that could have happened to you. It gave you the opportunity to go forward in a direction that may not have happened if you didn't get fired - you may still have been "stuck" doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. Aside from getting "fired," what other ways can a person redirect their course in life?

Roy: One of the most powerful ways is to do the exercise we just discussed and begin to think in terms of their purpose. Once a person begins to believe that they are here for a reason and then begins to identify that reason, it's like putting a rudder on a boat that previously had no steering mechanism. Getting fired was only a glitch on my life's radar screen because I knew what my life's purpose was.

Irene: Being a motivational speaker, you have traveled the world giving seminars and keynote speeches about universal truths. Please give us some insight what these truths are.

Roy: A couple hundred years ago German philosopher Immanuel Kant suggested that we live our life as if our every act were to become a Universal Law. If I may be so bold, I suggest that doing so is impossible. There can be no new Universal Law or Universal Truths - there are certainly potential new perspectives on them, or perhaps different ways to present them, but the Laws (Truths) themselves are timeless and timely. So my recommendation would be that we live our life as if our every act conforms to, or is congruent with, a Universal Law.

For example, no matter where I go, from Boise to Brazil, the Law of Attraction manifests itself. It says simply that we will bring into our lives people, circumstances and events that correspond to our dominant way of thinking. We see evidence of this all the time - have you noticed how negative people tend to attract to themselves other negative people? And we're all familiar with the "self-fulfilling prophecy." Now I'm not suggesting that a good attitude, or "The Power of Positive Thinking", by themselves will give us the wherewithal to do anything, but they can help us do everything better.

Other Universal Truths we see manifest everywhere include the one Aristotle introduced in 350B.C. Today it is referred to as the Law of Cause and Effect - everything happens for a reason. Neither winning nor losing - in the game of horseshoes, or in the game of life, is determined by luck or coincidence. Another was paraphrased several years ago by popular motivational speaker Zig Ziglar in his interpretation of The Law of Compensation. Zig put it simply this way, "You can have anything in life you want if you'll just help enough other people get what they want." The caveat, of course, being that selfish gain not be the motivation. Quid-pro-quid does not create winners in the game of life.

Irene: It's interesting to note Aristotle talked about Cause and Effect, yet 2500 years later we are still struggling with believing that everything happens for a reason. I'm seeing that in your own situation, if you didn't get fired, this book would not have been written. I know that we both can come up with my situations that prove the Law. Why is it so difficult for some people to believe in this particular Universal Law and attribute situations to luck, bad luck, or coincidence?

Roy: The best definition of "luck" I've ever seen is "Luck is where preparation and opportunity intersect." My wife Bonnie wins a lot of contests and sweepstakes. Friends say to her, "You are so lucky. I never win anything." Bonnie will frequently reply with,
"Do you ever enter these contests?" and invariably the response will be, "No, 'cause I have such bad luck - I never win." Bonnie and her friends both have the opportunity to win, but Bonnie prepares to win by entering. And I sincerely believe that expectation plays a role as well. As Henry Ford said, "If you think you can, or if you think you can't, you're right."

And blaming negative situations on coincidence or bad luck is so much easier, not only because no work is required to prepare, but because it's so much easier to "rationalize" failure. Do you see "rational lies" in that word?

Irene: You encourage readers of "Never Beat the Boss at Horseshoes" to take 100% responsibility for their own success. That's pretty humbling. How do you suggest we do that?

Roy: Irene, it is very simple. Simple, but not easy! In fact, it can be one of the most daunting challenges we face in playing the game of life. Look carefully at the word "responsibility" - it almost looks like "response-ability", or "respond-ability", doesn't it? Certainly we are not responsible for everything that happens in our lives; I am no more responsible for being fired after that horseshoe game than I am for the tides. But I am responsible for how I choose to view the event. In other words, we can't always control what happens in our lives, but we can control our response.

Irene: It's much easier to blame someone else if things aren't going how we had planned it and not be in touch with being responsible for our own feelings. And, sometimes the response gets us into more trouble. How do we change our attitude when one way of thinking has been ingrained for so long?

Roy: I define attitude as how we see life from within and how we choose to respond.

In our seminars, I frequently ask participants to write the word attitude. No big deal, and they all accomplish the task without comment. I then ask them to put their pen in their other hand and write the word attitude - Wow, what a change in response! Some even say, "I can't do it." When I ask why it was so much harder the second time to write attitude, the universal response is "We've always done it this way", or, "We've never done it that way before."

Now think back to our earlier discussion of responsibility - that we can't always control what happens in our lives, but we can control our response. Couple this with the definition of attitude as a choice, and we have an answer to your question. Attitudes can change the moment we realize that we can control our response to every situation in our lives.

Irene: M. Scott Peck wrote "Sometimes the only solution to a problem is that there is no solution." Our society is very solution oriented and Peck's statement is hard to grasp. Mind you, he wrote it many years ago. How do you propose that we accept there just may not be a solution to the problem?

Roy: The first chapter of Never Beat the Boss... is entitled "Put It in Perspective".

Is the "problem" truly a "problem?" Many people employ a concept known as re-labeling when evaluating a problem, and substitute another label. "Challenge", "situation", "concern" and "issue" are all words that can help to mitigate certain dilemmas. I don't mean to sound Pollyanna - certainly there are very real problems we all face that no amount of word-smithing is going to solve. Obviously a terminal illness is a challenge and a concern and an issue, but above all, it is a very real problem.

Several years ago insurance guru A.L. Williams wrote a book called, All You Can Do Is All You Can Do. There is genuine wisdom in that. There are times when we've exhausted everything we can do to find a solution, and yet the problem remains. This is when, with M. Scott Peck's observation in mind, we need to recall my earlier assertion that although we can't always control what happens, we can control our response.

Irene: You stress clear communication at all times. Sometimes we think we are communicating clearly but the other person just doesn't seem to be on the same page as we are. Do you have any clear cut suggestions of how we can be sure the other person hears what we are saying?

Roy: In 1979, at UCLA, Professor Albert Mehrabian published the results of his landmark study in communication. It is still the benchmark for understanding how people communicate, and it gives a clear insight into the answer to your question. He found that when we are talking to another person, only 7% of what they hear us say is our words. Fully 38% of what they hear is our tone of voice, and 55% of the message conveyed is our body language! In other words the old saying, "It's not what you say, but how you say it", is more than just an old saying. You need only to recall a childhood game of "Simon Says" to know this is true.

With that in mind, there are certain clear cut things we can do to facilitate true communication (The best definition of communication I've ever seen, by the way, is "to give and get understanding")...

*always make eye contact

*paraphrase what you think you heard the other person saying

*use verbal support - "yes", "I understand", Uh, huh", etc.

*use non-verbal support - the slight nodding of the head, slightly leaning forward, etc.

*ask questions

*use the "Echo" technique - repeating the last word or phrase they used

*maintain an open body position

*observe their body language as well - are they doing these things?

Let me suggest, too, a great sales technique that works in all one-on-one communication efforts - WII-FM - What's in it for me? Imagine the other person is wearing an invisible head-set tuned to WII-FM. You must broadcast on that frequency - let them know why it's important to them to listen to you.

Irene: Thank you so much for a very interesting discussion. Is there anything else that you would like our readers to know about you, and your book?

Roy: Thank you, Irene. This has been great! I really would encourage your readers to visit www.RoyLantz.com for a couple of reasons. One is to experience the QUOTE-avation of the day (That's a quotation that provides inspiration and motivation - they must provide the perspiration!), and the other is that there are a number of articles there that may be of interest. I'd also like to plug my publisher's website - www.MagnoliaPinesPress.com to learn about Never Beat the Boss at Horseshoes...

Mom, I'm Bored!

They're back! Now that school's out, parents all across the land are sure to hear those words, "Mom (or Dad), I'm bored!" If you're a parent who is blessed with the opportunity to spend the summer with your children, but stressed by their need for constant stimulation, here are some tips to combat the summer doldrums.

1. Make a calendar with your child. Include all the trips and special events. This will help your child not only conceptualize the time ahead of them, but it also teaches a valuable lesson about planning ahead.

2. If your child says he or she is bored, sit down and talk about what boredom means for them. It could be that they've lost interest in their activities, or that they're unwittingly using boredom as a substitute word for feelings like anger, frustration or hurt.

3. Try to avoid having all the answers. Your job is to provide the environment for a wonderful summer, not to plan it out for your child.

4. Have plenty of art supplies, games, and reading materials on hand.

5. Get your kids outdoors. Encourage them to play with other children and be physically active.

6. Eliminate or limit TV, computer and video game time. Too much time with any of these will turn your child into the kind of "summer vegetable" you don't want.

7. Let your child have down time. They don't have to be busy every minute. Summer break offers a wonderful opportunity for children to practice being alone with their thoughts and feelings.

8. Summer is a wonderful time for parents and children to work on projects together, like planting a garden or building a model.

9. Have your child plan a family outing or a dinner. This is not only a productive use of their time, but one which will offer them a chance to take responsibility and feel the pride of accomplishment.

10. Encourage your child to begin their own collection of things that interest them. These could be rocks, shells, baseball cards, comic books, almost anything.

11. Last but hardly least, encourage your child to develop close friendships over the summer. Nothing is better than a summer shared together!

Here's to a superb summer for all, parents and children alike!

Allowing Your Teen To Be Angry

When children are 2, they get angry and they lay on the floor and kick and scream. While we don't particularly like these tantrums, as parents we all share stories of the tantrums our children throw.

As adults we too get angry. Some of us go take a walk. Some of us find journaling helpful. Some of us yell at the person closest to us, later feeling badly and needing to apologize. Some of us engage in activities that are self harming such as over eating, drinking and worse.

Teens get angry too. I've had moms actually say to me, "I can't believe he/she is so angry over "that". "That" of course refers to something that mom does not believe the teen should be angry about. I don't know about you, but I've seen adults throw temper tantrums in what I think are the oddest of places. I've seen adults scream at retail employees. I've seen adults literally throw food in a restaurant. I've read about adults shooting guns at someone on a freeway. For me, these are not things that would push my buttons, but the reality is, we all get angry over different things. We all have different buttons that get pushed by various activities and we all have a different perspective on what's just happened.

Teens are no different. I've seen my own kids get angry over unfairness in a classroom, over a friend saying or doing something they didn't like, and yes, they even get angry at me and the decisions I make. Anger is ok. It's how we handle the anger that makes us who we are, and as parents, we do have the right to tell our kids that certain behaviors when angry are not ok.

For example, it is not ok to slam doors, ever. I don't care how angry you are, do not slam a door in my house. It is also never ok to hit another person. It does not matter how angry you are at that other person, you may never hit them. If you are feeling angry, take a walk, go swimming, hit a baseball, throw a basketball, kick a soccer ball. Work out the anger in a way that is not hurtful to another person or to yourself.

Both of my kids refuse to talk to me when they are angry. This is ok. I know that when they calm down and when the anger passes, they will come and tell me what had them so upset. Sometimes that might be the next day, or sometimes it might be the next week. It's only when the anger is gone that you begin to see choices to solve whatever it is that brought on the anger in the first place. Anger can help lead you to decisions. Anger can help lead you to change.

Teenagers need to be allowed to feel anger. It helps them grow. It helps them learn how to have control. It's hard to not yell or slam or a door. Having that control leads to increased self confidence in their own abilities. Being allowed to feel anger also helps teens learn to problem solve. This is something they will use forever. It's a wonderful skill to learn.

Next time your teen is angry, smile and make a few suggestions on how to get rid of some of the steam, but do let them know that it's quite ok to feel that way.

It is Easy to See Why the Women Love Light Blue by Dolce Gabbana Perfume

Truth be told that Dolce and Gabbana is a extremely well known brand of perfume for men's cologne and perfume for women. And the D & G products bring freshness and upscale quality to fashion. Especially to fragrances too, of course! But the best perform in my opinion is the Light Blue by Dolce Gabbana for the women.

And for a very good reason guys, if you are stumped what to get your girl for the holiday season, her birthday or just because, then you cannot go wrong with this fragrance.

Here is what I suggest that you do. Go to the mall. Ask the lady behind the Dolce and Gabbana counter at a fine retailer. And she will spray some of the Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue on a card and hand it to you. Then just walk around the mall and sniff the card every once in a while. If you like the scent and you think you would love to smell this on your sweetie. Well, there you go! Mission accomplished.

But what exactly is this perfume? Well, the smell of Light Blue fragrance has been described as a simple, fresh, playful and exquisite scent. It is very irresistible to BOTH women and men. And women just love this smell on them so they will be so happy to get it as a gift from you.

Now this D & G Light Blue is a proprietary blend of many smells. Some say amber, rose, musk, cedar, bluebell, apple, jasmine and Sicilian citrus. Just whew! This fragrance is going to give off a floral, woody, and fruity combination of delectable smells that will make the wearer feel like she is actually living under a light blue sky!

So when is the right time for a woman to wear Light Blue by by Dolce Gabbana? The answer may surprise you but, anytime is the perfect time for this perfume. And the reason I say this is because this scent is so light and so playful that she could wear it to the little league baseball game and then wear it at a posh restaurant later in the evening.

In short, this fragrance will make her feel desired, sexy and gorgeous. So just imagine how her face will light up when she opens up the box of Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue perfume!

But what about the 1000s of other fragrances and perfumes that are on the market today? Well, there are all kinds. Expensive ones. Cheap ones. But most of them haven't passed the longevity of Light Blue. It has been around for several years which tells us that it has been accepted by a lot of picky and discriminating women.

Sports Fan Gear For the Real Fan in You

In recent years sports fans have been revamped from what they were many years ago. It's not just a question about their eating more modern fast foods, but it has more to do with the way in which they flaunt themselves. Their means of expressing themselves are to dress up for the particular sport event.

Those were the days when just painting your faces with the colors of the respective teams was in rage, but the fanatical sports and games fans of today express themselves with sophisticated sports-fan-gear replete with armor and helmet.

Some of the more restrained methods that you can see are sporting team checks that have the team logo or team image on them. This is deemed one of the most efficient ways to show your allegiance to a specific team. You will find that there are team logo checks for almost any sports league or team.

Into this fray has entered the women sports fans who love to choose form the myriads of colors of female fan gear. Their fan-gear is fast gaining importance. You will find figure hugging jerseys, T-shirts, shirts, hats, backpacks and pocketbooks in all sorts of pastel colors manufactured with just the woman in mind. Many of the sports shops stock up their shelves with these gear for women sport fans.

You will find a variety of sports gears like jerseys, T-shirts, shirts, hats, caps and other accessories in sport shops, your local malls and for that matter even in online sports stores. The reason for this sudden increase in sports-fan-gear is that the interest in sports in itself is growing in leaps and bounds and manufacturers are finding that creating fan gifts is an extremely lucrative business.

Another set of sports fan gear is for the kids. You will be amazed to find shops sporting baby cheer leader garments or jerseys with proud parents vainly showing them off.

You know, fan gear is also gaining plenty of popularity as Christmas gifts. If you are in a quandary about what to buy your man for Christmas; if he is a sports lover, then you can bet your high horses that he will be thrilled to receive fan-gear as a Christmas present. These gifts can be anything ranging from team jerseys, hats, caps, blankets, credit cards, team sunglasses; just about anything that will make him feel that he belongs.

No matter where you are, you are sure to find sports fan gear of local as well as national and international sports. And the beauty of it all is that the gear is beginning to get really exciting and original with manufacturers thinking up novel ways to attract sports fans. Irrespective of your taste, you will quite definitely find sports gears in the market.

Moderating the Anger Response Through Training

You probably can't hit a baseball as well as Albert Pujols. Why? Certainly major league players were born with some level of physical advantage over the rest of us, but most of their skill comes from training - relentless training, year after year. Imagine a baseball coming toward you at a hundred miles per hour - that's less than a half second from pitcher's hand to catcher's mitt. Decide whether to swing. Then decide how to swing. Then actually swing the bat. All in less than a half second. Does Albert think about swinging the bat? I doubt it. That quick a reaction has to be instinctive. Instincts are something we are born with, right? In this case, no. The instinctive response Albert now has to the approach of a fast moving baseball is the result of years of training.

Most people think that anger is an instinctive response, and that some people were just born with the temperament to get angrier faster than others. That statement is half right. Anger is an instinctive response. We respond to an affront with anger in the same time as a pitched baseball reaches the batter - essentially instantaneously - much too quickly for conscious thought to be called upon. But the instinct of the anger response can be trained in the same way as a batter's response is trained - through conscious repetition, visualization, and coaching. Visualization is seeing the event we desire to master in our mind's eye. We see the approaching baseball or the antagonistic action as if it were real, and then mentally practice our response.

During his training, a baseball player strives to make each swing better than the last. The repetition of a faulty swing would be worse than useless. It would ingrain bad habits. The same is true of emotional responses. If we allow ourselves to continue to have the same angry responses, we just entrench our anger habit. But if we strive - through consciousness, visualization, and coaching - to moderate our anger response over time, we can train ourselves to respond to events as we choose, without anger. You can't magically be free from anger tomorrow, but you can put yourself on a training program that will reduce the frequency and intensity of your anger response day by day, year by year.

My training advice for moderating the anger response is:

1. Consciously practice responding with a little less anger each time a situation provokes you.

2. Practice visualizing aggravating situations and rehearse the response you choose to make to such events.

3. Have patience. It took you years to get so angry. It may take years to reduce anger down to a minor twinge.

4. Understand that you can never completely eliminate the anger response. Minimizing anger requires lifelong conscious practice.

The preceding advice is intended for those who are quick to anger, and who display their anger outwardly. But what about people who don't appear to anger? Some people who don't show anger have trained themselves to moderate their anger response, but many others internalize their anger rather than expressing it. While withheld anger may save family and friends from having to endure an outburst, unexpressed anger is even more damaging to its owner than is anger that is verbalized and acted upon.

For those who suffer from repressed anger, there must be an intermediate stop along the path from anger to freedom. First the anger must be expressed. While I believe that most people can significantly reduce the frequency and intensity of their anger responses through the training steps above, overcoming repressed anger is usually not a do-it-yourself proposition. Professional counseling - often including the physical expression of anger in a controlled environment - can reveal and heal the childhood traumas which triggered the lifelong habit of repressing intense anger and hostility. Once a person has become able to express their anger, it becomes imperative to immediately begin moderating that response, with the goal of feeling no anger, either repressed or outward.

The view that there are benefits to anger has become common, but I believe that statements such as, "When anger is channeled and controlled, it can be a catalyst for much positive change," represent a distorted view toward the anger response. The argument goes that if we didn't get angry, we would become pushovers, but the assumption that we can have values and stand up for those values only by getting angry is faulty.

The other view toward anger, with which I totally concur is, "Anger is now known to be quite detrimental to us physically and psychologically." We don't need anger to be assertive any more than we need a stiff drink in order to stand up for our beliefs. As a example, if someone doesn't repay a loan to me, I can be assertive in demanding the repayment, or I can bring legal action to recover the money, at least as well if I am not angry. And more important, I will be far healthier, both physically and emotionally.

Anger is a destructive emotion that becomes instinctive over the years. Through conscious training, the anger response - whether in the form of outbursts or repressed - can be moderated over time, until it is virtually eliminated.
