Parents, Teach Your Children Well
Being a parent is a big responsibility, many lessons of parenting are learned by trial and error. Being a father to two wonderful daughters and a son, has taught me many a valuable parenting lessons on what and what not to do. One such lesson is to be man or woman enough to admit when you are wrong. There have been quit a few instances having to do such. Children look to their parents to set an example, teach and guide them in the right directions.
Now-a-days working parents are are so burdened down with work, ir becomes difficult to spend quality family time with their children. With the advent of the Playstation, Xbox and such, video games have taken the place of family activities. Time is a precious commodity and in the blink of an eye your children will be grown. Missed opportunities can never be recaptured. I made a vow to myself to say to my children every day that "I Love You". Family activities need to be the number one priority of parents. It is crucial in the development of children and the family unit.
Your children will never forget time spent as a family and the love shown. It is the responsibility of parents to provide guidance, love, care and nuturing to their children. Quality time spent as a family will be rewarded with a lifetime of childhood memories and build a strong family foundation that can withstand times of good and bad.
Suggestions for family activities:
1. Physical activities: Young children love going to the park. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy nature and the outdoors. Play games such as hide-and-seek, chase, toss a ball, take a walk on a nature trail. Older children will enjoy games of basketball, volleyball, tennis, baseball (using a tennis ball).
2. Outdoors: Primitive camping, you don't have to actually sleep over night, you could simply put up a small tent in a campground (children love tents) cook out or carry a picnic lunch. Especially id you have a son "take him fishing" boy's love to fish. This is quality time a father and son can enjoy, the solitude and a time to talk.
3. Amusement Parks: Water Parks and Amusement Parks offer a day of thrills and spills that entertain the entire family.
4. Plays: Take your children to a play or theatrical production, puppet show and magic shows are very entertaining for children.
5. At Home: Children of all ages absolutely love playing board games. Hide and seek, especially with the lights turned off, their are many more indoor and outdoor games that entertain children.
