For employers, the choices of the various credit card companies seem endless. There are the big names of Visa and MasterCard, plus the two other giants of the credit cards, American Express and Discover. It is not going into details of retailers and banks and credit unions - hell, even baseball teams - which co-branding of their cards, generally Visa and MasterCard.
So what's the difference?
Cut the fist, answer is "Not much, really." But there's more to it than that.
Most credit cards offer the same base set-up. Do you have a credit limit, a grace period and a variable or set rate. It is responsible for purchasing the card, you receive an invoice and they are required to pay at least the minimum payment each month. All the companies offer prizes ranging from point-based systems to offer cash back, depending on the type of paper you have. Forget to make a payment, go to your credit, pay your billleaves, etc. will, and pay taxes.
But there are also clear differences ... and these differences can have a big impact on your business.
Visa and MasterCard
The largest and most popular retailers and more around the world are taking the cards from these two employees than any other combined card. In fact, both companies say they are accepted at over 20 million merchants in over 150 countries around the world.
However, when the cards are issued withVisa or MasterCard logo on them, they are responsible for your purchases. Visa and MasterCard payment network, not creditors. Credit cards and keeps the deals that you receive actually come from specific banks, banks, shops or other financial institutions. These are your stations and are the ones that give you the credit and responsible if you fail to make payments.
Visa and MasterCard to process credit card transactions, whileand conditions of credit you for the card only for your station. That's why you can have a Visa credit card of your credit union and a MasterCard debit card for your bank account.
American Express
With a reputation for more "exclusive" of other credit cards, American Express is still considered a company that "offers" credit cards - that is, cards that can be used for the purchase of office, but that require payagain in full each month. If it is true that American Express began as a single company to pay the annual fees required for use, they now offer many programs to traditional credit cards. Some of their cards, like their American Express Blue Card, do not charge an annual fee. In the wake of our current financial crisis, however, American Express has slowed in many of their programs and credit cards to pay them backroots and, presumably, to their exclusive status as well.
Originally, it was American Express Payment Network, issue cards to customers who have been supported by its own credit and conditions. However, now the loan American Express name for many banks issuing credit cards and also offer co-branded with a Costco card.
One more thing about American Express because they charge higher fees for merchants willing to give their card is not as wideas a form of payment accepted by merchants and therefore not always as easy as a Visa or MasterCard.
To discover
Discover a payment network itself from its Discover Bank, is now branching out, working with other banks of issue. Discover one of the first cards offer cardholders a cash back bonus on their purchases, which at that time was unique and extremely popular. This helped to get the card, but a wide customer base, asAmerican Express, the card is not widely accepted as Visa and MasterCard.
So ... what is right for you?
In this current economic climate, credit is harder to find. Do not hit your inbox every day, just like they did a few years back. This means that you want to do business with a company and work with you to help small business a success. So, ultimately, the choice of a credit card means morethe choice of a name. This means that the assessment of your needs and offers assessment, then compare the cost savings and benefits of - literally - dozens of cards before making a decision.
